It would hardly be a USA Track & Field Championships now without a victory from Husky great Brad Walker. A fifth U.S. Outdoor pole vault title for Walker was sealed on Friday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Competing in her first USA Track & Field Championships, Husky All-American Megan Goethals earned a top-10 finish in the 10,000-meters, held Thursday night at Drake Stadium.

Current and former Washington State University student-athletes will be competing at the USA Track & Field Championships and other national championships this week and weekend.

The NCAA track season wrapped up less than two weeks ago, but several of Washington's top performers from that meet are back on the road this week for the USA Track & Field Championships.

Last week at the annual Washington student-athlete graduation awards banquet, the Husky track team was more than well represented, earning several big honors including the top male and female individual honors.

As the 2013 season recedes in the rearview mirror, Washington continues to build for 2014, adding two state champ sprint recruits and a talented area men's distance runner.

Freshman Chris Williams earned a big honor today as the Pac-12 conference announced Williams as the 2013 Men's Track & Field Freshman/Newcomer of the Year. The awards are based on a vote of the Pac-12 head coaches.

The javelin throwers have to wait all through indoor track to compete, so its only fitting that they were the last ones to compete for the Huskies this week at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.

Two days after a fourth-place finish in the 10k, Megan Goethals was feeling even better about a fifth-place 5,000-meters finish. She's now an eight-time All-American and nearing the UW scoring record.
